Salwa Aleryani & Sasha Zuwolinsky (USA) Repast, 7:22
Repast is an exploration of everyday practice as a template of personal encounter. The work is a reflection on the ritualism of food and its role in nourishing interpersonal relationships and in the construction of collective identity. A host attempts to create an assimilated space where she hospitably prepares a meal and in the process is forced to challenge the conventions of the activity. The functional practice is made expressive to uncover a personal narrative through the associative value of food.
